He had been a Pharisee, surely someone many Jews looked up to, and believed he was going to become something significant. And he had persecuted the Christians because he didn&#8217;t believe what they were saying about Jesus was true.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">But when he met Jesus on the road to Damascus, he left all that old life behind and gave his whole life to Jesus. And Jesus had an important task for Paul. He was supposed to be the one to tell others about Jesus to various nations, not just Jews, but all kinds of people.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-49004\" src=\"https:\/\/biblekids.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Skjermbilde-2021-06-07-kl.-10.22.29-679x400.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"294\"\/>Paul understood that he was shown such great grace by Jesus because Jesus had hope for him and loved him. Now Paul could become an example for others. &#8216;Jesus came to save sinners \u2013 and I am the worst of them,&#8217; Paul said about himself. When Jesus had shown his power by saving him, then others could also have hope.   <\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">Paul spent the rest of his life working with people and teaching them everything Jesus had said. Three years had passed since he left Jerusalem, and he felt it was time to return. The Christians there were afraid of him because they remembered him as someone who used to persecute them. However, Barnabas became Paul\u2019s friend and introduced him to Peter, with whom he developed a strong fellowship. When Paul wanted to speak to the people about Jesus, the Pharisees came and tried to capture him. Consequently, Paul had to flee from Jerusalem and went back to his hometown in Tarsus. He lived there for many years until his friend Barnabas came and invited him on a missionary journey.
