A new hope for people
“Journey to the beginning” is the story of the Christmas gospel, about Mary being visited by the angel Gabriel, the difficult journey to Bethlehem and everything that happened when Jesus was born. But also about the power-hungry Herod, the three wise men, and the shepherds in the field.
The fact that Jesus came to earth means the start of a whole new opportunity for people. Jesus saw that people could not always be kind to each other or live as God wanted them to. They were suffering and in pain. He wanted to help us so badly, and so He came to earth. He gave up all His glory in heaven, and was born into this world, as a human being, like us. To save us from our sins and give us an eternal hope.
In-house produced animation series
The animation series “Journey to the beginning” has been produced in its entirety by BCC Media. Written, drawn and animated by our own resources, the vision has been to create a series that engages children and creates joy, gratitude, and excitement around what happened in the little town of Bethlehem more than 2,000 years ago.
The series is divided into three parts, but also combined as a 15-minute film. It can be split into three different sessions before Christmas, or watched as one film.
First part of the journey
Here we hear about the exciting story when the angel visited Mary and told her that she would give birth to a Son, who would be the Son of God and the Savior of the world. Her fiancé, Joseph, was also visited by the angel. And he wanted to support Mary and the little child.
At the time Mary was about to give birth, the emperor decided that all people in Israel should be registered in a census, and everyone had to go to the city they originally came from. Mary and Joseph had to go to the town of Bethlehem to be registered there.
At the same time, in a faraway land, three wise men discovered a new star in the sky. They knew that this meant that a new king would be born, and they set off to honor him.
Second part of the journey
In this episode, we hear about what happened when Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem. There were already so many people in the town, that they could not find a place to sleep. Eventually they got a place to sleep in a stable. And there, in the stable, the Savior of the world was born.
The three wise men also arrived in Judea, and they thought that the most natural place to look for a king would be in King Herod’s palace. But the wicked king had heard nothing of a king’s son, who was to be born. Nor was it something he was so happy to hear about, because Herod was a king who would do anything to keep his power. He makes an evil plan just in case the wise men are right, and a king’s son has actually been born. He also tells the wise men to come back to him and tell him what they find.
Today is born unto you a Savior
In this episode, we hear about what happened next with the evil King Herod, the three wise men, Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus. We also meet the shepherds from the fields, who were visited by angels who told them about a great joy, that now a Savior had been born to them. They immediately went to Bethlehem to see the little baby.
Herod realizes something is going on in Bethlehem. The wise men never came back to his palace, for they understood that the king was evil. The king decides to send his soldiers to Bethlehem. But at night an angel comes and warns Joseph, telling them to flee to Egypt. He, Mary and the newborn baby do what the angel told them to do and flee. This is how they arrived in Egypt, where Jesus spent the first years of His childhood. He shall become our Savior, and the Redeemer of the world. A new hope has come to earth.
