Passover was a festival that the Jews celebrated every year, to remember when God brought them out of Egypt, where they had been slaves. It was during this holiday that the story of Jesus that we know as the Easter story unfolded. Easter has become one of the most important holidays for Christians.
What does Easter mean for us today?
At Easter, Jesus sacrificed His life for us. He was crucified and died, even though He was completely innocent. But he rose again on the third day, death could not hold him. Jesus had never sinned, so He wasn’t really supposed to die. Satan had no right to claim His life. When Jesus died on the cross anyway, He died for the sins we have committed so that we can be reconciled with God. That means that our sins are forgiven and we can come back into a right relationship with God. But Jesus did not only die for our sins, through the life he lived every day, he paved a way out of sin. And now we can follow him.
Bible verses about what happened at Easter:
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:10
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:13-14
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
Psalm 32:1-2
Animated film about Easter
The Easter story is very impressive for children and can be difficult to communicate to the little ones, but with this nice film we hope to be able to provide a good option. We offer several theme pages and animated films that can be used to communicate the Easter story to children.
